Interview: Yvette Christiansë

Yvette Christiansë was born in South Africa under apartheid and emigrated with her parents via Swaziland to Australia at the age of 18. She is the author of the poetry collection Castaway, and a new novel, Unconfessed. In addition to writing, Christiansë teaches English and postcolonial studies at Fordham University.

She appeared in Goldwin Smith Hall on March 1, 2007. This interview took place earlier the same day.

I've heard that this woman to get that originality and special thoughts she consumes generic viagra twice a week so I'd like to know if that's true.

She is a really talented poet and a fabulous writer... Her novel Unconfessed talks about what common people live in African countries, and she try to explain it to us in a particular and interesting way. However I didn't know she was doing this because she born in South Africa... I thought the novel was just the result of the inspiration she got from documental of xl pharmacy which talks about the hard situation people lives in "Black Continent".
